Henry Southwell Eades Collection
Henry Southwell Eades Collection
Throughout its history Birmingham Repertory Theatre has employed a number of local professional photographers who specialised in front-of-house and theatrical photography.
Henry Southwell Eades photographed performances during the 1960s, capturing young actors and actresses including Brian Cox, Michael Gambon (pictured right as Othello), and Prunella Scales in productions ranging from Shakespeare to Joe Orton.
In 1996 Henry Southwell Eades's family donated over 200 of his photographs to the Library.
Pictured on the left are Jeremy Brett and Wendy Hiller in a 1965 adaptation of Steve Passeur's A Measure of Cruelty.
The collection can be viewed in Arts, Languages and Literature Floor 3 of Birmingham Central Library.
