Bickley Moseley Cotton Lane 1876

Moseley Grove Estate off Wake Green Road 1876

Wake Green Road and Cotton Lane, Moseley, 1872

Moseley village lies to the north-west (top) of this estate map. All of this area was in Worcestershire at this time, although many Moseley residents had businesses or worked in central Birmingham, three miles to the north, in Warwickshire. Moseley was incorporated in Birmingham, and Warwickshire, as part of the Greater Birmingham Extension Scheme in 1911.

Grove Avenue now runs through the centre of the land which was the Grove Estate. Cotton Lane was known as Cottons Lane because the name had come from Mr Cotton who had owned land on the corner of Wake Green Road and Cotton Lane. This area appears as part of the 1843 map of the Woodlands Estate near Wake Green; 'Moseley Grove' is near the top of the map.
