All libraries encourage access for everyone.
We will promote the service widely and remove barriers that prevent people from using the service.


The priority groups for the library service are listed below.

Some people are entitled to concessionary rates on fees and charges.

All library staff can help you find the information you need.

  • Support special and cultural events such as Refugee Week, Birmingham Pride Festival, Vaisakhi Festival, Eid Milan, Black History Month and local events.

  • Work with schools including special schools and day centres.
  • Children with disabilities are welcome at our activities and events.

  • Work in partnership with other organisations both voluntary and statutory.
  • Provide a fully accessible Mobile Library service.

  • Provide a Book Start bag for every baby.
  • Mothers are welcome to breastfeed their baby in the library.
  • Provide the Library Services at Home for people who are unable to visit the library due to physical or mobility problems.

  • Consult with people in order to improve library services.
