Flood Risk Information
Regular studies are undertaken in relation to flood risk across the city; these help us plan for the future in our Planning Policy Documents.
Strategic Flood Risk Assessment (2012)
This comprises two elements. The Level 1 Strategic Flood Risk Assessment (SFRA) was first produced in January 2010 and was revised in January 2012 - see the version below.
The purpose of the SFRA is to assess and map all known sources of flood risk, including fluvial, surface water, sewer, groundwater and impounded water bodies, taking into account future climate change predictions, to be used as an evidence base to locate future development, primarily in low flood risk areas.
The drawings that accompany the Level 1 SFRA are available on CD. Please contact us if you require a copy.
The Level 2 Strategic Flood Risk Assessment (April 2012) assesses possible development locations identified in the Strategic Housing Land Assessment in terms of flood zones and the sequential test.
