What services can I pay for?

You can now pay your Business Rates online by debit or credit card. The cards accepted are Delta, Solo, Switch, Mastercard, and Visa.

Is it safe?

YES. Your debit/credit card details will be stored securely by WorldPay and not by us.

WorldPay ensure that your debit card/credit card details are encrypted between your machine and their secure server, which will hold your details.

Visit the WorldPay site for more information.

Ordinary website addresses begin "http" - the address for a secure site will always begin with "https".

The process

The payment form will ask you for information that will enable us to allocate your payment to your Business Rates account. It will also ask for information that will enable us to contact you, if required (this information will be held by us).

When the payment form is completed you will be transferred to the secure WorldPay site for you to enter your debit/credit card details. WorldPay will approve the payment with your debit/credit card company and then inform us that your payment has been authorised.

Once your details have been submitted and authorised, we will then process your payment within one working day.

If you use this service on weekends or bank holidays, your payment will not be processed by us until the next available working day.

If you have responsibility for the cost of a funeral then you can apply for help from the Social Fund. You must claim within three months of the date of death. A claim form SF200 is available from Benefit Agency or Funeral Directors.

Either you or your partner must be getting one of the following before applying for a funeral payment:

  • Income Support or income based Job Seekers Allowance
  • Working Families Tax Credit
  • Council Tax Benefit
  • Housing Benefit
  • Disabled Persons Tax Credit

Any savings you have over £500 (or £1,000 if you or your partner are aged over 60) will be taken into account. Any money from funeral payment savings policies will also be taken into account by the Benefit Agency. The funeral must take place in this country. The payment may not cover the full cost of the funeral. Check with your Neighbourhood Office or the Benefit Agency for details.
