Adults and Communities Services for Carers
Who are Carers?
You are a Carer if you look after a relative or a friend who lives at home and needs help because of age, illness, disability or mental health problems. You could be checking on someone regularly, or be in a full time caring role. You could be a carer and not even know about it. For example, parents or foster carers of children with disabilities, or young people under the age of 18 who look after someone in their family.
How can we help?
Birmingham Adults and Communities is here to help and support both you and the person you care for. The Carers (Recognition and Services) Act 1995 gives you, as a Carer, the right to ask Adults and Communities for an individual assessment of the care you provide and of your ability and willingness to go on providing care.
