Christmas starts here

Lord Mayor Michael Wilkes will be joined by German Ambassador to the UK Georg Boomgaarden and German pop sensation Patrick Lindner as he officially opens Birmingham’s 42-day festive party – the Frankfurt Christmas Market on Thursday (Nov 12)

Heading into its ninth year, the Frankfurt Christmas Market is now a major highlight in the city’s calendar and the economic impact has steadily increased.

The market, which last year attracted a record 2.8million visitors to boost the city’s economy by a staggering £67million, is open seven days a week (10am to 9pm) from November 12 to December 23.

This year’s event will be bigger than ever, with stalls stretching down New Street as far as The Marketing Birmingham Welcome Centre.

The fun begins at 10am on Thursday before the Lord Mayor and Mr Boomgaarden officially open this year’s market at 5.30pm.
