BRMB announced today that chart-toppers the Sugababes and JLS will be performing at this year’s free Christmas Lights Switch On concert in Birmingham on Saturday 14 November.

They will be joined at the concert, which starts at 2pm at Millennium Point, by the Noisettes and Chipmunk and more big names will be announced soon. The city’s Christmas lights will be switched on at 7:30pm, accompanied by a fireworks display over Millennium Point.

The concert is organised in partnership with Birmingham City Council, and will be compered by BRMB presenter Russ Morris. Further line-up announcements will be made on BRMB radio.

Cllr Martin Mullaney, Cabinet Member for Leisure, Sport & Culture said, “This amazing concert will be the perfect start to the Christmas season, with such a great line up of top performers. The festive season is a chance to bring people together to celebrate, and Birmingham’s fantastic programme of free events will allow everyone to take part in the festivities.”

Paul Kaye, Programme Director for BRMB commented, “We’re delighted to once again be turning on Birmingham’s Christmas Lights and with Sugababes and JLS we’ve secured two of the biggest acts in the UK right now. Stay tuned for more big names to be announced in the coming weeks!”

The Christmas Lights Weekend will also see a visit from Santa and his reindeer, as the Christmas Reindeer and Lantern Parade takes place on Sunday 15 November, leaving High Street at 4:30pm and arriving in Brindleyplace at 5:30pm.

Birmingham’s Christmas Lights Switch On is just one of many free events on offer over the Christmas season. For more information on Christmas events in Birmingham, call 303 3008 or go to www.birmingham.gov.uk/christmas.
