New Number for Pay by Phone Parking

Birmingham City Council’s popular Pay by Phone parking service, which has more than 80,000 registered users, is set to become even easier and cheaper to use from this week with the creation of a new local rate number to access this service.


The service allows motorists to pay for parking at council-run car parks in the city centre by simply calling or texting – removing the need to worry about carrying change and giving them the option to extend their stay in a car park remotely – without having to return to print a new ticket.


The new number (0121 437 0000) is a local rate number – meaning for many customers the call itself will be free as part of their inclusive minutes packages.


In addition, a new easy to remember shortcode (65565) for the text service will be available for those customers registering for the text message. While the current text number is also being retained (0795 008 0201).


Cllr Len Gregory, Cabinet Member for Transportation said: "We are hoping that the introduction of the new numbers will encourage more customers to sign up to use this great service.


"Not only does Pay by Phone make it easier for the motorist to pay but the text reminder and top up features of the system means that far fewer of our customers find themselves having to rush back to their car to pay for additional parking time if their visit to the city centre is taking longer than expected."
