International poetry in Birmingham – Writing West Midlands, The Poetry Translation Centre and The Barber Institute bring you an evening of Persian Poetry in May. Writing West Midlands would love to see you at their first poetry event of 2012, a rare and wonderful opportunity to see Afghani poets Partaw Naderi and Sakila Azizzada reading in Dari and in English, alongside UK poets and translators Sarah Maguire and Mimi Khalvati. Afghan poets Partaw Naderi and Shakila Azizzada together with their translators, UK poets Sarah Maguire and Mimi Khalvati, will read their poetry on Wednesday, 9th of May at 6:30 pm at Birmingham’s Barber Institute. You will be able to enjoy the poems in the poets’ native language first and then experience the readings of their translations, which will be followed by discussions about the translation process as well as an opportunity for Q&A from the audience. Price: £10/ £5
