West Midlands Police and Crime Panel - Complaints and Misconduct Procedure

The West Midlands Police and Crime Panel has certain duties for recording and handling complaints and conduct matters about the Bob Jones - Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) and Yvonne Mosquito - Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner (DPCC).

Any complaints or conduct matters that are criminal in nature must be recorded by the Panel and then referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) for investigation.

Non-criminal complaints are handled by the Panel who may engage the complainant and the person complained about in an informal resolution process.

If you have an ongoing complaint, we would normally require that complaint process to be completed before we look into the matter.

A copy of the Panel’s Complaints Procedure is attached below.

You can make a complaint by email or post. Filling our Complaint Form (attached below) will ensure you have provided all the information we need to consider your complaint. This can be downloaded and send to the Panel.

By email: wmpcp@birmingham.gov.uk

or by post to: WMPCP, Scrutiny Office, Council House, Victoria Square, Birmingham, B1 1BB.

There are some things the Panel can’t look into because it does not have the legal power to do so. We are not able to deal with complaints about operational policing matters or the performance of West Midlands Police or any of its officers. Such complaints should be sent to the West Midlands Police Professional Standards Department.

The Police and Crime Commissioner deals with complaints about the Chief Constable and the West Midlands Office for Policing and Crime, including the Assistant PCCs and Non-Executive Board Members. If you want to contact the Commissioner about a complaint please use the Police and Crime Commissioner's website or telephone 0121 626 6060.
