Staffordshire Hoard Appeal

Anglo Saxon band with inscription

The most significant hoard of Anglo-Saxon treasure ever found was recently unveiled at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery and has now been sent for further research and valuation to The British Museum.

We now need your support to help us acquire this unique treasure for the region.

Birmingham Museums and Art Gallery is working in partnership with other museums in the region to raise the funds required to acquire and care for this extraordinary hoard of artefacts. Your help will be crucial in making this appeal a success.

You can find further details about the appeal at bmag.org.uk

Background

The Hoard was first discovered in July 2009 and is likely to spark decades of debate among archaeologists, historians and enthusiasts.

Both the quality and the quantity of this unique treasure are remarkable. The story of how it came to be left in the Staffordshire soil is likely to be more remarkable still.
