One of the Council's key priorities is to make better use of resources. The Corporate Resources Directorate is leading on this major business change by supporting the organisation's fundamental shift in the way it is organised and uses its resources.

Council Tax

Council Tax is set by Birmingham City Council and helps to pay for local services such as schools, roads, libraries, police, fire and rubbish collection.


Reports have been received from members of the public stating that they have received requests for bank details from an unknown company. Council Tax staff do not contact people in this manner to offer refunds.

Council Tax payers are advised not to disclose bank details or personal information to anyone contacting them advising of an entitlement to a refund.

The Benefit Service is responsible for the administration and payment of housing benefit and council tax support.
