Corporate Procurement Services

Corporate Procurement Services (CPS) is the purchasing section for Birmingham City Council. It provides specialist procurement advice and support to the Council in all aspects of purchasing goods and services ranging from ordering a box of paperclips through to Private Finance Initiatives.

CPS ensures that the Council's values and policies are integrated into the procurement process and comply with Council's rules and regulations, national and European law.

The Commissioning & Procurement Strategy 2011 - 2014 sets out Birmingham City Council's approach to using its resources in the best possible way to meet the needs of Birmingham's citizens and secure its strategic outcomes.

As part of Birmingham City Council's commitment to Social Value and Social Responsibility we have implemented the Birmingham Business Charter for Social Responsibility. This is a set of guiding principles to which Birmingham City Council will adhere to and to which it invites its contracted suppliers, the wider business community, other public sector bodies (including schools) and third sector organisations (including grant recipients) to adopt

To support Small Medium and Third Sector organisations, Birmingham City Council also has Finditinbirmingham - a free of charge web based information service for businesses in the region to access council initiated and private sector business opportunities.

CPS has a duty to promote these aims and this is reflected in our mission statement:

Enabling the Council to make best use of resources in achieving excellent outcomes for Birmingham citizens.
