Pre Application Advice

As part of our budget process the City Council has approved the introduction of charges, which will impact on the planning service. Find out more details here...

If you want to check if you are likely to get Planning Permission before you formally submit your application to us we provide free pre-application advice. We can also check you have included all the relevant information in your application so it gets decided as quickly as possible. A guide to our pre-application advice service is at the bottom of the page.

  • We are committed to helping you obtain all the information and advice you can before submitting a planning application.

    Pre-application advice can help speed up the planning application process as it is a way of making sure we have all the correct information from the start. Any potential problems can also be highlighted before you submit an application.

  • This must now be done using the Pre Application Form at the bottom of this page.

    We no longer provide Pre application Advice in person or over the telephone.

    The Pre- Application Advice Note at the bottom of this page has been prepared to explain what we need from you and what you can expect from us.

    • Information provided to us as part of the pre-application advice service will be publicly available unless otherwise stated by you.
    • Any information submitted as part of any subsequent planning application will also be available for public inspection.

    • Planning Aid is an organisation that provides free and impartial advice, to both community groups and individuals on planning issues. To complement our service, you may find additional support available through accessing some of the information they provide.
