Planning Committee

The Planning Committee decides the bigger and more sensitive planning applications we receive. It meets every two weeks and is made up of Councillors from across the city. It usually meets on a Thursday morning (11.00am) in the Council House in Victoria Square.

Planning Committee only decides about 10% of the applications received by the Council; these tend to be the larger and more complex applications which tend to generate the comments.

The Director of Planning and Regeneration decides the rest on behalf the Council, under what is known as delegated powers.

It is only the applications decided by Planning Committee that you are able to speak on. It is your responsibility to find out if an application is going to Planning Committee. Register to speak at Planning Committee here.
