Chelsea and Gardeners World Live 2013

RHS Chelsea 2013

In 2013 Birmingham Parks exhibited its “Enlightenment” floral display and won a Gold Medal in the floral category at the prestigious Chelsea Flower Show 2013 and both Gold and Best Exhibit in the Floral Marquee at Gardeners World Live 2013. The display was inspired by the new Library of Birmingham and was divided into four segments that focused on the Birmingham author JRR Tolkien, famous for Lord of the Rings, Annie Murray whose book Birmingham Blitz was based on life in Birmingham during World War 2 and Birmingham Poet Benjamin Zephaniah’s poem “Nature Trail.”


RHS Tatton Flower Show 2013
The gardening honours were topped by Parks entering theBirmingham Canals display featuring Birmingham's canals, locks and tunnels at the Royal Horticultural Societys Tatton Flower Show and securing a gold medal award in category of flower bed competition.


Heart of England in Bloom 2013

Birmingham’s summer of floral success continued into autumn, with the award of a Gold medal and winner in the large city category in the Heart of England in Bloom Awards. A key part of Birmingham’s entry into the campaign was the City Centre Floral Trail, which took in a number of colourful displays and features including four living walls.


Entente Florale Europe 2013

BiB 2013

Birmingham's Summer of Success culminated with the European gold for its entry to Entente Florale Europe (an international horticultural competition established to recognise municipalities and villages in Europe for excellence in horticultural displays). A special prize was also awarded to Eastside City Park for outstanding public green space.
