Oscott Ward

Oscott Ward, in the Northern part of the City, was mainly farm land, until the estate was built in the 1930s. It includes the former Booths Farm sand quarry, Aldridge Road Recreation Ground, Birmingham City ("Witton") Cemetery and Kingstanding Circle. It is part of the Parliamentary Constituency of Perry Barr. Oscott Ward is located in the North West of the City, borders Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council, includes the neighbourhoods of Perry Beeches, Kingstanding (part), Old Oscott and Queslett, and forms part of the Perry Barr Parliamentary Constituency.

2011 Census of Population: Key Statistics

According to the 2011 Population Census there were 24,615 people resident in Oscott.
- 20.8% of people were aged under 16, 62.5% were aged between 16 and 64, while 16.7% were aged over 65.
- The minority ethnic population made up 18.1% (4,455) of the wards population, compared with 42.1% for Birmingham. These numbers exclude people with a White Irish background.
- 74.0% of households were owner occupied and 10.8% were rented from either the local authority, housing association or other registered social landlord. The remaining 15.2% of households rented privately or lived rent free.
- The Census found that 12,541 (71.5%) of the population aged 16 to 74 were working or seeking work, this compared with 64.2% for Birmingham.
