Council Services


BACOP, the Birmingham Advisory Council of Older People exists to give older people a voice - to advise, steer and challenge public service providers in improving the health wellbeing and independence of Birmingham’s older people. BACOP has also setup a Birmingham Dignity Steering Group to promote Dignity in Birmingham.


Centro offer a number of bus pass options for older people depending on age and circumstances.

Social Services

Services for Older People covers a number of advice and care services which used to come under 'social services'. These include meals direct and day care services.

Information on choosing a residential or nursing home is also available.


Housing provide specific services for older people including the Careline service, which provides elderly people with emergency help and sheltered housing across the city.
