Localism Act 2011
The Localism Act 2011 is central to the government’s plans to move power away from central government to local authorities and local communities in order to better respond to local situations and increase innovation.
The Act includes a number of important measures, four of which support community empowerment by giving local people and groups a greater say about what happens to local amenities, how local services are delivered or how new development is planned. These four key measures are:
