Birmingham HIV sector secures Heritage Lottery Fund grant for 'Living Archive'

"It's wonderful to have the opportunity as a team to be involved in such an important archive that tells the story of HIV in Birmingham, through positive peoples experiences of living with HIV and those who cared and supported them.

This will be a unique archive for the sector and will add to Birmingham's heritage."

Tracey Jones, Service Development Officer, HIV Team, Adults & Communities Directorate, and Chair of the Living Archive Steering group.

The HIV Team are busy preparing documents for the archive which will evidence the work of the team and Directorate and, specifically, showcase the variety of training offered to thousands of council employees over the years.

The HIV Team are planning a recorded discussion of the work of the team past and present as an informative way of documenting the work of the team, the challenges it faced in the early days to present day by inviting team members, specialist social workers and HIV Co-ordinator past and present to be part of a series of discussions.

If your life has been affected by HIV and you would like to volunteer or share your story with the 'Living Archive', please contact us, in confidence by phone or email.
