Horseriding in Birmingham
Horses throughout history have served a variety of practical purposes, most notably they have been used as a means of transport, but also as a work horse in agriculture.
Today the power, agility, gracefulness, and speed of the horse means that horses are mostly used for personal pleasure and competition.
Even though Birmingham is a big city, there are still a few places where you can go riding. We have created this page as a starting point for riders and horse enthusiasts to find out where they can ride and also to find out about riding events in the Birmingham area.

You can also ride at Lickey Hills Country Park to the south of the city and at Woodgate Valley Park to the west.
Stables, which hire out horses or ponies for riding or instruction, must be licensed under the Riding Establishments Acts 1964 and 1970, so it is useful to find out about the license.
In addition to an annual inspection by the city's Senior Animal Welfare Officer, a report is also required from a veterinary surgeon or practitioner.
