Healthy Choices Award Scheme
This page can be referred to as http://www.birmingham.gov.uk/healthychoices
Birmingham Healthy Choices is an award scheme that recognises those catering businesses that make available and promote the sales of healthier options. The scheme is designed to help citizens of Birmingham choose restaurants and takeaways with healthier options available. The scheme is linked to the H for Hygiene Rating Scheme, so only those businesses that have achieved a 2H are eligible for an award. The scheme is being run by Birmingham City Councils’ Food Safety Team and FoodNet4Life which is a local NHS organisation.
This is not a healthy food award; it is an award for businesses that offer healthy alternatives on their menu. The award has four levels: ‘Five-A-Day’; Bronze; Silver and Gold. A summary of the award level criteria are available to download below.
As well as providing an assessment the assessors will give you hints on how to gain the next level of award and answer any queries you may have. By working with us and achieving an award you can contribute to improving the health of the local community as well as raising the profile of your business
Once you have successfully completed an award level you will receive a certificate to display in your premises and can feel confident that you are offering your customers healthy options.
If you are a business and would like to participate in the Healthy Choices Awards scheme, please contact Gemma Harvey on 0121 303 4834 or e-mail her at firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange a mutually convenient appointment for one of our assessors to visit you at your premises to complete the assessment and determine the award level.
