Care Services for Children
and Young People

Birmingham City Council is the 'Corporate Parent' for about 2,000 children and young people in the city.

These children may be in foster care, living with a family or in residential care, in a children's home, waiting for a foster care place.

In working with children and families, Birmingham City Council aims to provide services that support families to bring up their children themselves, and work in partnership with parents and other carers. Where the child's interests require us to look after them we assist the family to keep in contact unless this is harmful to the child.
