The Benefit Service is responsible for the administration and payment of:

Online Benefit Application

You can now make a claim online, and report a change of circumstances in the same way. It is the fastest way to get your claim for Housing Benefit started or updated.

Simply complete and submit the online form and provide evidence as requested. Please allow 28 days before contacting us regarding the progress of your claim.

Processing times

We are currently processing new claims within 25 days of receiving them and processing change of circumstances within 7 days.

Housing Benefit Payments

If you are in receipt of Housing Benefit, from October 2014 you will no longer receive a separate confirmation with your benefit payments.  This is due to Birmingham City Council's drive to achieve efficiencies and a greener environment.
