Something to think about
It can be very satisfying working with animals and in many jobs you will be doing something really worthwhile. You can get first class training and there is a huge variety of jobs that are dealing with the care of animals.
But also remember:
It is no good being too sentimental about the animals in your care they may get sick and even die, you will need to be able to deal with that happening.
Some work in animal care can be very routine. Having to do the same jobs over and over again can be difficult.
The work is often smelly, dirty and physically demanding.
To have a voluntary placement at the Nature Centre you need to be over 16 years old.
You can apply for a work experience placement, for up to two weeks, through your school or organisation (for example Duke of Edinburgh award scheme).
