About Birmingham City Council's Housing Services

Birmingham City Council's housing services aren't just about providing decent, good quality homes for the 65,000 households who rent from the council. We also play an essential role in making sure that better use is made of all Birmingham's housing - regardless of who is responsible for it - and that our own services are flexible enough to meet the changing housing needs of our residents.

For example, our services include:

• Working with housing associations, the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) and private sector partners to develop high-quality, affordable homes
• Providing support to some of the most vulnerable people in Birmingham, through the Supporting People programme
• Offering grants and loans to homeowners to improve housing conditions
• Helping homeless people to find temporary accommodation
• Giving advice and support to refugees and asylum seekers.

Going beyond housing, we've set ourselves challenging targets - which we've already started to meet - to transform whole communities and provide decent places where people want to live.
