Birmingham is home to a thriving community, which embraces all aspects of the creative industries including jewellery, visual and performing arts, craft and design, creative writing, publishing, PR, marketing and advertising, software design and new media, film, television, ICT and games, radio, music, music technology, and photography. As well as being home to major broadcasters such as BBC, ITV Central, and newspaper publisher Trinity Mirror there are a wide range of art galleries and theatres, and the city is home to the Royal Ballet, the Birmingham Opera Company and the CBSO.

The creative industries are one of the key sectors of growth and expansion in the region, and the many opportunities on offer embrace and enrich the wide diversity of talent located in this unique city. There are major developments planned throughout the Creative City and many are already underway throughout Eastside, the Jewellery Quarter and the Custard Factory, all of which create a focus for further growth and support for the industries in the coming years.
