Complain about a Councillor

If you feel that one of our Councillors has broken the Councillors Code of Conduct, you should let us know.

The Code of Conduct for Members, Part C4, of the City Council’s Constitution, sets out the standards of behaviour that Councillors in Birmingham should follow, If you feel that a Councillor has broken any of the rules in the code of conduct, you can complain to Birmingham City Council’s Monitoring Officer.  To submit a complaint please:

1.    Download and complete a copy of our complaint form
2.    Return your completed form to The Monitoring Officer, contact details at the bottom of this page

The Monitoring Officer will read every complaint and decide whether it should be formally investigated.

The Monitoring Officer only deals with complaints about Councillors.

If you are unhappy with the delivery of a Council service, or a member of Council staff, then please use the council's complaints procedure.

The Monitoring Officer may choose to try to resolve your complaint informally, without the need for formal investigations. If we can’t resolve your complaint and it needs formal investigation, the Monitoring Officer will contact you to give you more information about the next steps.
