Look at what we’ve been up to

We won another award…

We’re delighted to share that Cityserve has scooped another award! At last week’s MJ Awards, which highlight excellence in UK public service, Cityserve won the award for Workforce Transformation.

The award recognises organisations for work in engaging and managing their workforces through major service transformation and ensured it remains positive. We had to show that at Cityserve we’ve got a flexible, productive workforce, joined-up ways of working, and a can-do culture. Of course, we always knew we had that here but to get recognition on a national stage for the people who make Cityserve what it is - our workforce - is a real coup.

Organisers said this year’s awards were inundated with nominations so to win this is a real achievement. We’d like to thank every single member of our team at Cityserve. Without them this wouldn’t have been possible.

Healthy Eating Week

In June we marked Healthy Eating Week, which gave us the chance to showcase the efforts we put in all year round to focus on health as well as taste. From June 10th - 14th, children at Cityserve schools took part in activities relating to a different topic each day, including ‘why it’s so important to have breakfast’, the importance of water, and sleep and rest.

What’s coming up for Cityserve?

We love a themed day at Cityserve and our last one day of the year, is a seaside theme - perfect to get everyone in that summer holiday mood. Menus will include seaside classics like fish and chips and sausage and chips, with curry sauce, mushy peas or beans. Of course, no trip to the seaside would be complete without an ice cream, so Cityserve kids will be tucking into ice cream tubs for pudding.

As it’s our last theme day of the year, we’d love for everyone to take part. Because after all, we do like to be beside the seaside!

Vegetable Maths Masters

Aston University has created a great new app aimed at children of primary school age. Vegetable Maths Masters combines photographs of fruit and vegetables with a maths game, testing their maths as well as making sure fruit and veg is associated with fun to encourage children to eat them and help change the outlook of fussy eaters. What a great idea!

Our motto is ‘all about the kids’ and we recognise that in the same way children are all different, so are schools. That’s why we offer a range of services and options to allow schools to completely personalise their service.

These include Cityserve Pay, Saffron, Learning & Development, procurement and more.

We’re always looking for ways to improve our service and provide top quality meals for children across the West Midlands as well as providing value for money for the citizens of Birmingham.

With the summer break upon us, this is our last newsletter until September. We wish you all a lovely relaxing summer holiday and hopefully some sunshine! See you in September!
