We’d like to thank the children of St. Francis for a great day! You were a wonderful set of ambassadors for your school.

We are now welcoming many school groups into our food innovation centre and we were delighted to recently meet the staff and children from St Francis RC School to speak about our food and provenance, seek ideas for future menus and offer them a wholesome, nutritious and (most importantly) school food compliant meal! Children were from years 1-6 and were accompanied by with their school Catering Leader, Mrs Bryan and Head-Teacher Mr Humphries.

The children met Chef Wayne Edge and heard about different fruit and vegetables and where various foods come from – Evesham is good for growing vegetables, asparagus and orchard apples. The children identified some well-known foods on display and Chef explained about the aubergine and how much water it holds which is great for a stir fry.

Chef Ian explained that the healthy vegetables on display were in the pizza sauce (it actually contains 17 different nutritious items and is delicious!) and talked about how even pizza can be healthy with the right ingredients.

We had a special guest on the display counter – a water melon monster with a pineapple mohawk! The children nicknamed him “Mr Munchy”

Lunch menu of the day was: Quorn Tikka Masala, Pizza Margarita, Potato Wedges, Rice and peas, Vegetable stir fry, Roasted winter vegetables and Jerk chicken.

They then went into the boardroom to eat their lunch and discuss the food they enjoyed the most…..PIZZA!

Then back to the kitchen to make their very own knickerbocker glory with a competitive “whisk off”. Great fun was had by all!

We’d like to thank the children of St. Francis for a great day! You were a wonderful set of ambassadors for your school.

(Incidentally – it was perfectly timing since we needed to abandon CITYSERVE HQ later that day because the heavy rain flooded us out! Thankfully normal service was resumed very quickly)
