George Dixon Academy

On Friday 1st July 2016 we welcomed the students from George Dixon Academy into our brand new Development Kitchen in our HQ at Birmingham Science park.

We had the pleasure of meeting  Jenecha, Adama, Ninvier and Shelton. The group was chaperoned by Mr Pearce – Associate Leader, Ms Deutche – Head of Biology and the Catering Leader – Mandy Shaw.

This is one of many groups we have had in recently that we have welcomed to engagement centre and we were delighted to talk to them about our food and provenance and seek ideas for future school menus.

Our executive development Chef , Wayne Edge welcomed the team and introduced them to a range of fresh vegetables and fruit  all which are locally sourced.

Chefs’ Wayne, Lisa and Ian, alongside our guest Chef, Helen from St Francis, supervised the students in making their own wraps with an array of fillings to choose from such as coleslaw, mixed peppers, tomatoes, spring onions, tuna, sweetcorn and cheese.  They were then invited to try a mixture of foods also from the hot counter such as chicken burgers, fish fingers, pizza before dining in our very own boardroom.

On return Chef Wayne, Ian and  Lisa supervised the creation of knickerbocker glories where each child chopped their own fruits, whisked the ice cream and created their own desserts .

To the students of George Dixon Academy – thanks for visiting us, what a great set of ambassadors you are!
