Cityserve is delighted to be involved in the delivery of a fantastic initiative ‘Holiday Kitchen’ which will reach potentially 1000’s of our most vulnerable families over the summer period.

We know that some families are at risk of ‘food poverty’ during the holiday period when free school meals are not available to them. We also know that some families find it difficult to access fun activities to keep their children busy and to build memories of fun family time.
Holiday Kitchen initiatives will be running throughout August this year in Children’s Centres across Birmingham. Each Centre is putting-on 8 half day sessions during which families will come together to make and eat healthy food and have fun. Activities include art and craft, trips to the local park, dressing up and drama.
Developed by The Accord Group/Moseley Ashram and project managed locally by Birmingham City Council, Holiday Kitchen is an example of drawing civic together resources to deliver a much-needed project in partnership. Alongside Fairshare Trust, Cityserve is supplying food for the scheme and has also provided menu plans, food safety training for colleagues in the Children’s Centres and volunteers.
