CityServe – top of the class!!

CityServe, Birmingham City Council’s school catering and cleaning service, has been recognised as the best Best Council Service Team team in the UK at the prestigious Municipal Journal Awards on Thursday evening – The MJ’s.

The award endorses the ‘All about the Kids’ approach which places children at heart of the transformation of the organisation and recognises the ‘social commercialisation’ approach. A key plank of CityServe’s success has been providing a platform for students to engage effectively with food, healthy eating and the impact on the environment, which has led to investment in a student-led development kitchen and interactive roadshows and events taking place across schools.

Councillor Majid Mahmood, Cabinet Member for Value for Money and Efficiency said ‘this award endorses the innovative and proactive approach we have taken with CityServe and demonstrates the value added by commercially focussed local authority services.’
Dale Wild, Head of CityServe, was delighted with the achievement ‘this award shows what we have achieved as a team over the past three years and would not have been possible without the dedication and commitment of every member of our workforce and we should all be incredibly proud. It’s great to celebrate what has happened so far, but we are focussed on continuing to improve and to grow our service and the positive impact it has on our customers.’
