Mexican day

Welcome to Cityserve’s latest news

Look at what we’ve been up to

Mexican madness arrived at our schools in May, with Cityserve schools getting involved across the West Midlands. Children enjoyed Mexican menus and dressed the part too. Our theme days are a great way of encouraging children to try new foods and celebrate different cultures and are incredibly popular with both kids and staff too.

We’ve just launched our new summer menus, packed with new dishes developed by the team at CityKitchen Live. Like all our menus, they’re compliant with Government nutritional standards and have been developed with input from children and staff as well as our expert team of development chefs. We can’t wait to see them on counters at Cityserve Schools across the West Midlands.

What’s coming up for Cityserve?

This month sees the return of Healthy Eating Week, which takes place from June 10th-14th. At Cityserve, healthy eating is at the heart of everything we do and all meals comply to Government standards. Healthy Eating Week gives us the chance to showcase this and to really focus on the importance of healthy eating with children. During Healthy Eating Week, children will take part in activities relating a different topic each day:-

  • Monday - why it’s so important to have breakfast
  • Tuesday - ‘Eat the Rainbow’ - eating your five a day
  • Wednesday - Drink Plenty - the importance of water
  • Thursday - Get Active - exercise and keeping active
  • Friday - Sleep Well - focusing on sleep and rest

Look out for all the great fun on our social media channels.

At Cityserve, we’re all about the kids. It’s our motto and is at the heart of everything we do. Cityserve is responsible for around 50,000 meals every school day, providing student-inspired menus focused on quality, not cost. All recipes comply with Government Nutritional Standards as well as the revised legislative guidance on allergens and are developed at our state-of-the-art development kitchen, CityKitchen Live.

We have taken bold steps to grow the business and return a sustained income to the council, providing value for money for schools and citizens in Birmingham. That work has earned us several national awards, including Best Catering Service Team for three years running at the APSE (Association for Public Service Excellence) Awards, as well as Best Service Team in the UK at the ‘MJ’ (Management Journal) Awards - the industry ‘Oscars’.

Every school is different and so are its needs, so at Cityserve we offer a range of services and options to allow schools to completely personalise their service. These include Cityserve Pay, Saffron, Learning & Development, procurement and more.
