Mexican day

Welcome to Cityserve’s latest news

Look at what we’ve been up to

Cityserve’s development chef Simon Bishop was featured in the latest edition of industry magazine Educatering, giving his view on the subject of veganism. Simon’s column, which you can read here outlined the work that Cityserve has put in to look at how we can cater for the growing popularity of plant-based meals. Simon works closely with Forest Green Rovers, the only vegan football club in the world, and has plenty of ideas on how to develop plant-based food offerings.
From working with suppliers to source products to blind tasting sessions with pupils and interactive cookery days, his piece in Educatering Magazine shows how we’re always pushing the boundaries at Cityserve to make sure we’re providing exactly what our customers - and ultimately the children - need.

What’s coming up for Cityserve?

This month we’re encouraging Cityserve schools to take part in Mexican May - one of our 11 monthly theme days. We run our theme days as a way of encouraging children to try new foods and celebrate different cultures. They’re always popular with children who love learning about different cuisine and traditions and are great fun for staff too. Ole!

At Cityserve, we’re all about the kids. It’s our motto and is at the heart of everything we do. Cityserve is responsible for around 60,000 meals every school day across the West Midlands, providing student-inspired menus that focus on quality not cost. All recipes comply with Government Nutritional Standards as well as the revised legislative guidance on allergens and are developed at our state-of-the-art development kitchen, CityKitchen Live! Come and see us in action!

We have taken bold steps to grow the business and return a sustained income for reinvestment in to the education system –rather than shareholders. We are proud to be recognised as the Best Catering Service Team for three years running at the APSE (Association for Public Service Excellence) Awards, as well as Best Service Team in the UK at the ‘MJ’ (Municipal Journal) Awards - the industry ‘Oscars’.

At Cityserve we understand that each school is different, as are your needs, so we offer a full range of flexible services and innovative products including Cityserve Pay, Saffron, Learning and Development, procurement and much more.

By working with us - we can deliver a service tailored to your needs, allowing you to benefit from professional mentoring, advice and hands-on support whilst providing quality as well as cost-effectiveness making sure that ultimately, it’s all about the kids.

Let’s see how we can work together.
