Birmingham Connected Extra - Park Street closure 11 to 14 September 2018

Information about the temporary closure of Park Street for demolition works.

As part of the HS2 Curzon Street Station development, work to demolish the former Fox and Grapes public house on Park Street, central Birmingham, is due begin on Tuesday 11 September. Recent survey reports have revealed structural issues within the building, which mean the demolition planned for later in the year has been brought forward at short notice.

During these works Park Street will be closed to all traffic from 9pm on Tuesday 11 September with diversions likely to be in place until Friday 14 September. The main diversion route will be from James Watt Queensway southbound via Jennens Road, Ring Road and Coventry Road to Digbeth. We anticipate a substantial increase in right turning traffic between Jennens Road and Ring Road. To help reduce congestion, please plan ahead and use public transport, walk or cycle to travel whenever possible. Park Street will be re-opened at the earliest opportunity.
