Draft Birmingham Transport Plan

Make sure you have your say on the draft Birmingham Transport Plan, which sets out our vision for a sustainable, green, inclusive, go-anywhere network.

You can watch a short video, download the full document and have your say at birmingham.gov.uk/transportplan.

There are just a few places left at our stakeholder workshops, which will include a presentation with Q&A and a chance to discuss your views with council staff and other stakeholders. Please book online to attend one of these events:

Or if you prefer, come along to one of our drop-in sessions:

Consultation closes on 27 March 2020.

Clean Air Zone vehicle checker and business toolkit

Clean Air Zone cloud logoThe Government has launched its Vehicle Checker for Clean Air Zones. This is the only source you should use to check if your vehicle is compliant with Birmingham’s Clean Air Zone. If you have any issues with the vehicle checker, or you think the result for your vehicle is incorrect, you should contact the Government's CAZ helpdesk - Birmingham City Council staff are not able to make changes to the vehicle checker.

We are hosting a drop-in event on Saturday 15 February between 10am to 4pm at the Council House, Victoria Square, B1 1BB. Come along to chat with the Clean Air Zone team and other partner organisations, including public transport providers, about support available ahead of the introduction of the Clean Air Zone later this year.

Business Toolkit

Businesses can now access a free toolkit to help them prepare for Birmingham’s Clean Air Zone. The toolkit provides information on checking vehicle compliance, financial support, upgrading to cleaner vehicles, travel planning through Modeshift STARS and more. It also includes resources to help you spread the word about the Clean Air Zone to staff, clients, visitors and suppliers. The toolkit has been produced in partnership with Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce.

Moor Street Queensway bus gate

Moor Street QueenswayWe are proposing to introduce a bus gate on Moor Street Queensway between Moor Street Station and the junction with Carrs Lane. This is a short section of road which can only be used by buses, cyclists and hackney carriages, so other vehicles will no longer be able to travel along the full length of Moor Street Queensway.

Consultation closes 28 February 2020.

Draft Birmingham Parking Supplementary Planning Document (SPD)

Managing demand through parking measures is one of the four Big Moves set out in the draft Birmingham Transport Plan. The draft Parking SPD supports this by outlining our approach to balancing parking provision with promoting sustainable travel and specifying revised parking standards for new developments.

Consultation closes on 21 February 2020.

Earlier this week, the Government announced that the High Speed 2 rail line between London and Birmingham will go ahead, while the section to the north will be subject to further review.
