Andy Hamilton - Jazz Saxophonist

Andy Hamilton
Andy Hamilton

Andy was born in Jamaica in 1918 and had the distinction of working with actor, Errol Flynn, for whom he composed the jazz calypso tune ‘Silvershine’. Moving to England in 1949, he forged a career with his band the Blue Notes but it was not until 1985 that he finally made his debut album, also called ‘Silvershine.’

Another album, ‘Jamaica By Night’, followed in 1995, and at the age of eighty-five, Andy still performs nationally and locally, as well as offering people the chance to learn from him and play with him at the Ladywood Community School of Music.
