The
Children and Young People’s (CYP) Plan is a statutory requirement.
It outlines our priorities and the improvements we intend to make to
outcomes for children and young people.
The
Brighter Futures Strategy is a core element of the plan in describing the
approach we have taken to identfying needs, agreeing outcomes, and then
designing evidence-based activities to help achieve those outcomes. The
CYP Plan also covers how the children's trust arrangements have
developed, our mechanisms for performance management and co-operation
with other partners.
The CYP plan seeks to ensure coherence
between the Brighter Futures Strategy, the children and young people’s
aspects of the new Local Area Agreement and the Directorate of Children,
Young People and Families Business Transformation Programme.
Our vision is for Birmingham to be an inspiring place where all children
and young people enjoy living, learning, developing and achieving
together whilst feeling secure in a city that is child and family
friendly.
To achieve this vision we are transforming the way we
work to focus on outcomes. This means ensuring our services are designed
around achieving better outcomes for children and young people. The
focus will be on those outcomes identified in the Every Child Matters
report that became the Children Act 2004: be healthy, stay safe, enjoy
and achieve, make positive contribution and achieve economic wellbeing.
Birmingham's Strategic Statement about Planning for Outcomes for children and
young people includes a summary statement, the full strategy document, a
Powerpoint presentation and briefing notes to accompany the
presentation. These are available on the
Children's Strategy page.
Brighter Futures magazine is designed to inform all staff working in
Children's Services in Birmingham informed about current progress
towards achieving the vision for Birmingham's children and young people.
There are currently two magazine issues published during each academic
term.
